We are saving our own lettuce seed! How?

We let it flower and go to seed. Once the seeds have matured we pick em', let em' dry and winnow em'.

It takes around 80 days for a watermelon to go from seed to ripe fruit. We've been patient and we are soon to be rewarded. We are cutting it close because watermelon do not like the cold.

What a whopper of a day, 80 degrees. Thank goodness the breeze picked up in the afternoon.
We will have some beautiful heads of broccoli and cauliflower at farmer's market tomorrow. Hope to see you there.
