Today's mission: transplant onions
The roots on these onions are tiny and all intertwined within each other. The plan was to take them apart one by one out in the field but that was proving to be inefficient and too time consuming. So, Jim choose to have a team in the greenhouse untangling the roots. With some teamwork and some determination the onion mission is now complete. :)

The work never ends at LOVOF- even on a rainy day. Lucky enough to have each other's company and some tunes these girls (from left to right) Kelly, Ellen and Chelsea spent the afternoon filling seed trays and quite possibly singing. They planted lettuces (of all varieties), brassicas (things like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage) and much much more.
Three cheers to singing in the rain... but with the luxury of being inside.

Skyphos, Eros Escarole oh my. No I'm not speaking Latin, I'm speaking lettuce! Escarole is wider and more tender than endive with a mild and delicate flavor. And Skyphos is the most beautiful red head you're ever sure to meet... in the lettuce department. :) It really has an excellent flavor and texture. It is a member of the butterhead family.

Do you like shiny things? Well so do we, especially if they are coming off our strawberry plants. Why are we on the look out for shiny leaves on the strawberry plants? Because it's an indication of optimal health.
Newly planted strawberry plants are very busy because they are putting out exploratory roots and "decorating" their new home. Happy soil warming strawberries. :)
