If you look closely you can see two melons, one is dark green while the other is lighter with a raised crisscross structure called netting.

What's happening is that as the fruit matures the skin surface netting gets coarse and rough, the background color of the fruit turns from green to yellow and the tendrils near the fruit on the stem dry and turn brown.

So, what does all this mean? It's melon eating time! :)
